Golf at Lyford Cay

Considered by many to be the # 1 private golf course in the Caribbean, Lyford Cay is an exclusive resort & marina complex on the tip of the island. Home to many world-renowned businessmen and celebrities – such as Sean Connery and the late Sir John Templeton – this course promises to be a really fun outing. Our guide for this Sunday morning excursion is Michael Ross, who is also a speaker at our Summit. He has graciously arranged for us to play this exciting course with full member’s access.

As you would expect for any prestigious club, certain rules should be observed. The dress code includes long slacks and a collared shirt. Soft-soled golf shoes are required, which can be rented along with clubs at the resort. The course includes great vistas of the ocean and the type of landscaping (and hazards) that should generate many fond memories – and a couple of good stories to share with your friends.

There are just a few days left until you get to try out your swing – at the Bahamas’ most exclusive course.

Your ‘already practicing my putting’ host,

The National Weather Service says the 10-day forecast for Nassau looks pretty good – 80s during the day with a few occasional showers – typical Bahamas weather! See the 10-day forecast here:

Delicious Dinner in the Bahamas

One of the greatest things about visiting the Bahamas is the fresh seafood. While the Sheraton has very good food, sometimes you just want to ‘hit the town’ and try something different. Here is a list of my favorite restaurants in the area, in no particular order:

Café Matisse – downtown Nassau - http://www.cafe-matisse.com/

Great Italian restaurant. During lunch, you can find the island’s business people gathered at Matisse – it is their favorite lunch place. For dinner, they do a wonderful grouper (I had it last month when I was there) and their Tagliatelle is out-of-this-world. Quick service at lunch, but they slow it down at dinner so you don’t feel rushed. If you like Italian, this is it.

Graycliff - a few blocks from downtown Nassau - http://www.graycliff.com/

The most elegant restaurant on the island. Graycliff is a large ‘plantation-style’ home converted to provide terrific ‘European style’ dining. If you like wine, you’ll be in heaven at the Graycliff. Their wine cellar has over 250,000 bottles of wine. Wine Spectator has awarded them the ‘Grand Award’ and the ‘Best Wine Cellar Award’ every single year since the mid 1980s. They offer a free tour of the cellar. Great cigars available as well. Live piano most evenings in the lounge – a great place to relax and talk before dinner.

The Poop Deck – near the Sheraton - http://www.thepoopdeckrestaurants.com/

This is a place run by people who know seafood. I know some of the retired Americans who love to run their 40+ foot custom fishing boats all around the island – they supply fish to the restaurant and it doesn’t get any fresher than this. One of them will be your guide for the fishing expedition on Sunday. Try the Poop Deck’s ‘Bahamian style’ – it has a little ‘kick’ to it. Located next to a yacht club, so if you like sailing or fishing, you can easily strike up a conversation at the large bar.

Provence – near the Sheraton - http://www.provencerestaurant.net/TheBuzz.htm

A wonderful ‘French Mediterranean’ place with plenty of outdoor seating overlooking the SandyPort canals and luxury homes. Well-loved by the locals and the place for many a social gathering. Great salads, fresh seafood, and some Greek style dishes as well.

Of course, there are some other good ones, but you can have a great meal at any one of these. Bring your appetite!
